IKEA Case Study

The problem / opportunity

IKEA chose us specifically because we ‘got’ their values and culture. Working alongside their HR and marketing team, the challenge was to bring the marketing team to a point where they could achieve world class status in the Ikea Voice survey. When we started speaking with IKEA, they were well under the benchmark in terms of teamwork, collaboration with other departments, leadership and service.

A partnership solution

  • We started with individual work and consultation with each member of the team to assess the real situation. From there, we ran an initial two day off site workshop, which was designed to be challenging, getting people outside their comfort zone. We needed to build a great deal of trust in order to get people to open up.
  • Subsequent work over an 18 month period included further facilitated workshops, individual coaching, 360 feedback reports and mentoring (by the HR team). As part of the latter, we also worked with the HR team to develop and refine their internal coaching skills.

Results achieved

The marketing team improved their internal VOICE survey results year on year by a stunning 35% and as a result did attain world class status against all other Ikea marketing teams.
