There’s a saying about how children negotiate: ‘kids versus parents; no contest!’
Why? Because they instinctively use some very smart strategies (either that or they have been on some great workshops)!
They have a clear goal; they know which buttons to press, they are very persistent. They are optimistic about the outcome and certainly about budgets. They concede reluctantly and usually only when something is given in return.
Negotiation is part of our lives whether we like it or not.
We aim to get everyone who comes on our workshops to enjoy negotiations – to relish the challenge and enjoy the results.
And the benefits are definitely there to be had. Good negotiators get what they deserve – monetary rewards for their efforts, proper resources, reasonable time frames, co-operation from colleagues and partners…the list goes on.
Our programmes cover planning and preparation, deciding negotiation strategy and tactics, the psychology of negotiation, the win/win philosophy behind all good negotiations, understanding needs and interests, the give/get technique, bargaining tactics, understanding your negotiation style, how to eliminate aggressive or submissive behaviours in negotiations because neither of these approaches help in the long term. We give participants the confidence to negotiate the best possible outcomes for all parties, strengthening relationships along the way.
In business, you don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate.
